The Bedfordshire and Luton Casualty Reduction Partnership today starts a summer advertising campaign to encourage more people to wear seatbelts and to use the correct child restraints.
The campaign includes posters on bus backs in Luton and Bedford and a series of radio advertisements and infomercials on Chiltern Radio that will run throughout the school holidays.
“The message is simple - seat belts and child restraints save lives. If you were ever involved in a road traffic accident where you or your passengers were seriously injured or killed – how would you feel, knowing that their injuries could have been prevented simply by belting up properly?” said Caryl Jones, Communications Manager for the Partnership.
This advertising is part of the “Belt-Up for Life” campaign which is a long-term programme of educational and enforcement activity to increase the use of seat belts and child restraints.
A recent survey showed that as many as four in ten children in cars outside schools in Luton were not correctly restrained.
